Today, children will change their appearance...

...to get treats

God doesn't "trick or treat"

Are you putting on a mask today and going to a costume party?

Isaiah 52:13-15 (NLT)

The Lord’s Suffering Servant

13 See, my servant will prosper;
he will be highly exalted.
14 But many were amazed when they saw him.
His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human,
and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.
15 And he will startle many nations.
Kings will stand speechless in his presence.
For they will see what they had not been told;
they will understand what they had not heard about.

Today, remember that Jesus changed His appearance...

...to give His life so that we could become children of God. Jesus has treated us to His loving grace! There is no trick to getting to Heaven - it's a gift from the loving Holy God.

How can we connect today's God's Story scripture to our lives?

  • Take a few minutes to worship our crucified, risen Savior. Thank Jesus for suffering to pay the penalty for your sins. Meditate on the incredible truth that His sacrifice has provided you with complete forgiveness. Praise Jesus for the privilege of abiding in Him now and looking forward to eternal life in Heaven.

  • Write out Isaiah 52:14 in your journal, organizer, school notebook, or on a post-it to stick on your computer as a reminder of what Christ did for you on the cross.

How can we connect today's story and God's Story scripture and our story to others?

When you see children (or yourself) in costumes, let it remind you to be thankful to God that you don't have to hide the real you - to be treated to His grace - He loves and accepts you the way you are. Then ask Jesus to help you take off your "mask" and be real with others. Ask Him to give you the opportunity to share with others how Christ changed His appearance so that we might see and understand God's Story.

The Daily Bide is brought to you by a team of writers from Youth for Christ/USA. The writers all have various years of experience in youth ministry but share a common bond in serving Jesus and discovering what it means to abide deeply everyday and to connect God's Story with those around them. A number of the Daily Bide writers have also written portions of our 3Story® resources. You can check out our resources at the 3Story.org website or connect with our writers at 3story@yfc.net. If you have a question or a story you would like to share, please reference the Daily Bide date in your email.

YFC works with young people on campus and in the community in over one hundred countries around the world so that they might have an opportunity to become a follower of Christ and be a part of a local church.
